How we handle personal data – when buying material, in the contact form and when you visit this website.

For purchases we are required by law to establish the identity of the supplier. In doing so, we collect the name and address and – where payment is made by bank transfer – the bank details. We process this data in order to establish, perform and complete the contract of sale and for customer support.
We collect personal data only insofar as you provide it to us yourself for the performance of the contract. In order to process payments, we pass payment data on to the credit institution instructed where applicable.
Once the contract has been fully performed, we store your data subject to the retention periods under tax and commercial law and erase it once those periods have expired, unless you have expressly consented to further use.
Where data is still required in order to perform contractual obligations, or where statutory provisions preclude erasure, the data is blocked instead of erased.
If you write to us using the form on this website, we process the data you provide – name, company, email address, telephone number and your message – solely in order to deal with your enquiry and any follow-up questions. We do not pass this data on without your consent. If you attach photographs to your enquiry, these are transmitted to us by email only and are not stored on the website.
The website is operated for us by ARANES GmbH & Co. KG, Gregor-Meyer-Str. 19, 93089 Aufhausen. We have a contract with this provider on the processing of personal data on our behalf.
Each time the site is accessed, the web server automatically stores information transmitted by your browser (so-called server log files): the address accessed, the date and time of access, the volume of data transferred, the message confirming successful access, the browser type and version, the operating system, the page previously visited and the IP address. This information serves the technical operation of the site, troubleshooting and the prevention of attacks. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in secure and trouble-free operation under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. We do not merge this information with other data. The log files are erased automatically; the storage period is determined by the default settings of our hosting provider.
This website does not use cookies for advertising or analytics purposes and does not integrate any counting or tracking services. Information you enter in a form is processed solely for the purpose stated in each case.
For details of the map on the ‘Directions’ and ‘Contact’ pages, see the ‘Map’ section below.
Separate access credentials and a separate privacy policy apply to the customer portal at www.katalysator-katalog.de; that policy is displayed to you there.
On the ‘Directions’ and ‘Contact’ pages we embed a map from OpenStreetMap. The map is not loaded until you click the ‘Load map’ button. Until then, no data is transmitted to OpenStreetMap. When you click, your browser transmits, among other things, your IP address to the OpenStreetMap Foundation, St John's Innovation Centre, Cowley Road, Cambridge, CB4 0WS, United Kingdom.
On individual pages we embed videos hosted on YouTube (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland) or Vimeo (Vimeo.com, Inc., 330 West 34th Street, New York, NY 10001, USA).
These videos are not loaded automatically. As long as you do not click the play button, there is no connection to YouTube or Vimeo and no data is transmitted to them. Until then, all you see on the page is a preview image from our own server.
The video is loaded from the provider in question only when you click the play button. In doing so, the provider learns your IP address, which page you have accessed and technical information about your device and browser; it can set cookies and analyse usage behaviour. If you are logged in to Google or Vimeo, the retrieval can be attributed to your account.
The legal basis is your consent, which you give by clicking the play button (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR, Section 25(1) TDDDG – German Digital Services Data Protection Act). The consent applies to the page view in question; you will be asked again on your next visit. In the case of a transfer to the USA, the provider relies on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
For YouTube we use the youtube-nocookie.com address and for Vimeo the ‘Do Not Track’ setting; both reduce data collection but do not rule it out. Further details are available in the providers' privacy notices: policies.google.com/privacy and vimeo.com/privacy.
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. This website largely does without them.
Only one cookie is necessary: it is called ‘ks_einwilligung’ and records the choice you made in the consent box – so that we need not ask you again on every page view. It holds nothing but the value ‘nur-notwendig’ (essential only) or ‘statistik’ (statistics), no identifier of your person, and it is deleted after six months. The legal basis is Section 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG: without storing it, your decision could not be put into effect. A further cookie arises only for staff who sign in to the administration portal; it serves the sign-in alone and expires when the browser is closed.
Everything else – the visitor statistics – runs only once you have agreed in the consent box. Until then nothing is loaded and nothing is transmitted. You can change your decision at any time: the ‘Cookie settings’ link at the foot of every page opens the box again. A withdrawal takes effect for the future; what was collected up to that point is not affected.
You can also refuse or delete cookies in your browser. The website remains fully usable.
Where you have given your consent, we use Google Analytics, a service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. We want to find out which pages are read and where visitors get stuck, in order to improve the website.
Cookies are set in the process, and the following information is transmitted to Google: the pages you have accessed and how long you stayed, the page you came from, information about your browser, operating system and screen size, an approximate location at city level, and your shortened IP address. Google Analytics shortens the IP address within the EU before it is stored; a complete IP address is not kept. We do not combine this data with any other data.
The legal basis is solely your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and Section 25(1) TDDDG. Without your agreement no measurement takes place.
A transfer to the United States cannot be ruled out. Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework; in addition, the European Commission's standard contractual clauses apply. Even so, it cannot be ruled out that US authorities access the data. If you wish to avoid this, choose ‘Essential only’ in the consent box.
The data collected is deleted after 14 months. You can withdraw your consent at any time via ‘Cookie settings’ at the foot of every page. Further details on data processing at Google are available at policies.google.com/privacy.
We measure anonymously which pages are viewed, so we can improve this website. This sends data to Google and sets cookies. It only happens if you agree.
